The story begins when the three sprites, while playing amongst the clouds, accidentally fall through a gap in the clouds. They discover that Taiwan is experiencing a drought, causing the cloud layer to be thin, and they land right on Xue Mountain. After explanations from the Goddess of Snow Mountain and Mother Earth, the three sprites bravely accept the mission to find treasures in the lakes needed to summon the Rain God. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677887413_00cdb42b2b_b.jpg Along the way, they visit four mountain lakes—Dagu Lake, Jia Ming Lake, Seven Colored Lake, and Cui Feng Lake. With the help of the lake fairies and unique Taiwanese animals, they finally complete the mission of collecting the four great treasures and, together with the Cui Chi Fairy, summon the Rain God. Finally, the heavens open with bountiful rain, and the lake fairies, sprites, and many Taiwanese animals joyfully dance in the rain. After quietly admiring the rainbow, they fall fast asleep on the clouds. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54676418852_666864dd1c_b.jpg This picture book, inspired by Taiwan's mountains and forests, transports children into the mysterious world of high mountain lakes. Through the sprites' quest, children will understand the importance of water resources to the Earth, learn to cherish all they have, and realize the wisdom of respecting nature. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677890049_39b60460a5_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471453_147e6ba855_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471408_36a2d12109_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677578880_04ece112ed_b.jpg Taiwan, though small in total area, boasts over two hundred towering mountains and abundant natural resources. It is a blessing to live in Taiwan, experiencing the protection and beauty of its high mountains. Thus, in 2020, work began on the first picture book themed around Taiwan's great mountains, using a fantastical perspective to lead readers on an imaginative journey through the beauty of Taiwan's five peaks. The year after its publication, amidst a still precarious global pandemic, Taiwan also endured a once-in-a-century drought. One recalls the layered uncertainties of that time—the fear of the pandemic and the anxiety of water scarcity—which permeated the air with a sense of dread. Fortunately, when the plum rain season arrived that year, abundant rainfall eased the tense water crisis. It was against this backdrop that the story of the sprites' adventure in the mountain lakes came to be. The entire picture book was written, illustrated, designed, and printed in Taiwan, utilizing FSC-certified paper and soy-based inks, embodying a love for Taiwan while also caring for our planet's resources. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471373_a637e1f5fa_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471358_b931bc6927_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54676418797_856261df79_b.jpg The inspiration for the book's soul characters—the three little sprites—comes from the creator's three children. When these children gather, their joyful running resembles sprites in flight, which led to their incorporation into the picture book. For their appearance, we collaborated with the Qing team, deciding on a geometric, design-oriented style to form their basic shapes, tailored to the sprites' characteristics. To us, every child born into this world is a unique little sprite. Let the sprites Yu, Ning, and An from Sweet Planet accompany children as they soar through Taiwan's mountains and forests, embracing freedom and vastness. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471368_3baa36d6e3_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677474219_6e25962a52_b.jpg Each high mountain lake possesses its own unique personality and characteristics. It vividly depicts the unique appearance of lake ecosystems and charming, heartwarming alpine flora and fauna, sharing a fantastical story about the island's nature with children. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677252481_664f16f037_b.jpg https://img.shoplineapp.com/media/image_clips/604ef634c73d2e002ca6c717/original.jpg?1615787571 Soarppy's founder, Irene, born in the early 1980s and a mother of two, strives, like mothers everywhere, to find balance between caring for her children, earning a living, and pursuing her dreams. During her time spent with her children, it felt like reliving her own childhood. As an adult, with a broader perspective and deeper understanding, she realized that life, which appears smooth on the surface, is hard-won. She feels immense gratitude and love for the island of Taiwan that nourishes them. Thus, in 2022, she once again tapped into her imagination, hoping that through the fantastical story "Do You Know Taiwan's High Mountains Have Lakes?", children would feel the beauty of the Taiwan they inhabit and the boundless love Taiwan bestows. We are "Soarppy"—two mothers, combining "Soar" and "Happy." Join us in showing love for Taiwan. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54677471478_0aec2cb3e4_b.jpg
