Inspired by traditional Latvian patterns from Northern Europe. Finished with a charming, floral-like design. Crafted using 100% Shetland wool yarn, imported directly from the Shetland Islands. While not as soft as merino wool, this yarn is pleasantly non-itchy and creates a light finish by naturally trapping air. With continued use, the fibers will meld together, developing a unique, felt-like texture. Each piece is pre-washed before shipping, enhancing its soft, felted feel. Shetland sheep are raised in the harsh natural environment of mountainous regions, where the land is rocky and sparse, with limited grazing. This environment fosters the growth of wool with long fibers, a mix of coarser and finer hairs, and shorter, sturdier strands, along with natural color variations. The result is exceptionally strong wool. Furthermore, wool is characterized by its natural crimp, known as "crimp." The degree and type of crimp vary among sheep breeds. British wool, in particular, is distinguished by its dense and abundant crimp, in addition to the standard wool characteristics. A higher crimp count leads to yarn with superior sponginess, elasticity, and bulkiness. This inherent bulkiness allows the yarn to trap air effectively, resulting in excellent insulation, warmth, and a lightweight feel. Most importantly, its inherent strength contributes to excellent durability.
