KMZ plant, 1992 RARE RUSSIAN ZENIT-AM-2 CAMERA's BODY WITH PENTAX-K BAYONET! ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) ZENIT-AUTOMAT and AM were cameras very uncommon with previous ZENIT series cameras, one of first SLR cameras with really working automatic exposition. Those cameras received Pentax-K lens mount, it was 2nd camera's generation with such lens mount after ALMAZ-103 camera. AM & AM2 cameras had very nice shutter with metal strips. ITEM'S CONDITION: EXCELLENT-, TESTED The body still clean and attractive, just examine item's photos, please. The shutter works fine at A, B & X modes. I powered the camera and found that shutter works at A mode too, it changes shutter speeds with different light conditions. All functions are available. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Brand: KMZ. * Model: Zenit-AM2 * Frame size: 24x36 mm. * Film type: usual 135 type film cassettes are applicable. * Shutter: curtain metal vertical-travel electronic shutter. The shutter works fine. * Shutter speeds: B, 1/125 (marked as X) mechanically (can work without batteries) and 1-1/1000 sec automatically. * Power source requires about 5-6 V DC total. Initially it should be mercury-zinc battery 4RZ-53, or the shutter require 4 RZ-53 cells, it can be replaced by type 625 modern cells. Special battery insert and 3 metal caps allows to use discrete cells. Other kind of the power source is external battery pack with 4 AA type cells, recommended for cold weather. I used well-spread 625A type button cells to power it. * Synchronization with flash at 1/125 sec. * Two ways for a flash connection: usual PC socket and "hot shoe". NOTE: If You'll use a flash unit with high voltage synch cable or a "shoe" please be careful, that non-used contact at the camera will have a high voltage (150-250 volt with low total power)... it will not very nice for your fingers, even will not really dangerous. Thus don't remove plastic cover from "hot shoe" if you'll apply a flash unit with cable connection, and be careful with PC socket if hot shoe flash unit was installed. Most of modern flash units have low voltage contacts and will not bring any trouble to you.. * Lens mount is bayonet same with Pentax K. Also can be used M42 lenses from SLR "Zenit" and "Practica" cameras with special adapter K/M42. * In A mode the camera provides the shutter speed automatically with installed aperture meaning and film speed. * Built-in TTL exposure meter shows the exposition with 3-LED indication, which shows over exposition, normal exposition and under exposition.. * Film speeds are from 25 up to 1600 ASA and 2 steps exposure correction. * Lock for a shutter release button... never saw it at old Zenit cameras except Zenit-19. * Pretty bright viewfinder. * Frame around the eyepiece allows to mount correction lenses same with Nikon and Practica. * The body has very useful straplet attachment points. * Tripod mount 1/4 inch. * The camera was produced in Russia at KMZ plant at the town of Kreasnogorsk in 1995.
