Munch explored winter landscapes in the city of Kragerø in particular, when he returned to Norway following a period of hospitalization in Copengen following a psychological breakdown in 1909. This landscape of rugged and barren fjord terrain was very different from his turn-of-the-century "soulscape".
Large expanses of snow contrast with stripes of rocks or grass, and the colors are richly varied; the color palette is bright, and thick brushstrokes shape the invisible elements of the landscape into an ever-changing whole, with individual color forms blending into each other.
In places like Paris and Berlin, Munch's neurotic expressionist style and psychologically fascinating themes were mostly rejected by a wide audience, but aroused such enthusiasm among open-minded young artists that the Norwegian painter eventually became A pioneer of Expressionism and established in history.
After a nervous breakdown in 1908, Munch returned to his hometown and began to explore landscape painting in greater depth again.
This winter landscape of whites, blues and greens has a touch of Ferdinand Hodler's style and is not a unique example of works from this period.
But unlike paintings such as "Winter at Klagrue" (Munch Museum Oslo), here Munch already shows the transition from winter to spring.
Along the rugged coastline, a patch of snow has receded into a shadow where the green of nascent vegetation can expand. Therefore, this winter landscape might also be called a "soulscape"; it testifies to renewed confidence and vitality.

Edvard Munch (Edvard Munch, December 12, 1863 - January 23, 1944) was a Norwegian painter.
His most famous work "The Scream" is one of the iconic images of contemporary art.
His childhood was marred by illness, bereavement and the fear of running mental illness in his family. While studying at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Christiania (now Oslo), Munch began a bohemian life under the influence of the nihilist Hans Jæger, who urged him to paint his Emotional and psychological states. From this came his unique style.
Travel brings new influences and outlets. In Paris, he learned much from Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, especially their use of color. In Berlin, he met the Swedish playwright August Strindberg and wrote his main masterpiece "The Frieze of Life" (English: The Frieze of Life), which depicts a series of deep emotions. themes such as love, anxiety, jealousy and betrayal.
As his fame and wealth grew, his emotional state remained insecure. He briefly considered marriage but could not commit. A collapse in 1908 forced him to give up drinking, the Christiania crowd became increasingly accepting of him, and his work gained prominence in local museums. His later years were spent in quiet and private work. Although his works were banned in Nazi Germany, much of them survived World War II, leaving him with a legacy.
**The difference between whether there is Acrylic or not:**
》 Acrylic= one more layer of protection = one more layer of reflection
》No Acrylic= less layer of protection = you can directly see the work with better texture
I don’t know how to choose: (If there are children in the family, it is recommended to add Acrylic), (If there are adults in the family, you don’t need to use Acrylic)
