| Travelogue - Little Dinosaur Brawl New Year DIY KIT🦖👊💢| Project 12 Zodiac is in its 9th year! This year, I'm abroad, and I'm so grateful to all my friends who've been asking if I'd be releasing a product for the New Year. It finally spurred me to start sketching designs in December... which led to this " #Travelogue " series, documenting the ideas that came to me during my journey. More sharing to come! Among the 12 zodiac animals, I find the dragon and the snake the most challenging! For the dragon year's design, I went through several concepts, bouncing between traditional Chinese dragons and pun-based dinosaurs. The main reason was my long-standing desire to create a product featuring a T-rex, because its arms are so short and adorable! This led to the idea of a T-rex with short arms, yet somehow ready to brawl. The paradox is, with such short arms, how could it possibly fight? (I know a normal T-rex would use its mouth and tail, but I wanted it to use its arms, okay?) At Christmas markets in Europe, I came across several stalls selling miniature dollhouse accessories, featuring tiny versions of almost every household item. Seeing a range of axes and scythes immediately made me think – what if the T-rex held weapons, then it could really fight?! And so, this year's "Little Dinosaur Brawl DIY Kit" was born~ #AgeRevealSeries With time pressing, after finishing the 1:1 design, I started making a proto using materials I had on hand, including wooden sticks, chopsticks, and pins. My Swiss Army knife came in very handy here! Besides whittling wood, it could also drill holes, which was incredibly convenient~ This proto was mainly to test if the arm mechanism would work. Later, when making the wooden version, different issues arose, which I'll discuss in detail in the next post~ And so, the dragon year's Project 12 Zodiac is safely completed.
