This set includes three pieces: a child wearing an origami helmet, holding iris flowers and a rice dumpling (chimaki), along with two carp streamers. They were made with the wish for a child's healthy growth and abundant fortune. The process begins with recycled paper reconstituted into a clay-like substance, which is then kneaded and dried. Finally, Japanese paper and pulp from milk carton cores (using neutral paper that resists deterioration) are applied. Once dried, the paper's inherent strength creates a finish that resembles plaster or ceramic. Unlike hollow papercraft, these figures are solid and robust. While preserving the pure white and natural texture of the paper, colors are added with earth pigments, and patterns are applied using a heated branding iron.
