The Xiang Do Series by Shoyeido is an introductory line of incense, infused with natural essential oils to offer a novel experience. Crafted in Kyoto, following time-honored, traditional methods, these sticks promise the finest texture and authentic character. In 2018, "I-Si Arts and Culture," Taiwan's sole card specialty store, gained the favor of Kyoto's Shoyeido, becoming their official distributor in Taiwan. This marks the first instance globally of a card specialty store becoming a Shoyeido distributor. Established in Hōei 2 (1705), the renowned Kyoto-based incense purveyor, Shoyeido, boasts over three centuries of heritage. Now in its twelfth generation, the company continues to craft incense using traditional methods and natural ingredients. Many of Kyoto's celebrated temples—Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, Tō-ji, and Kiyomizu-dera—use Shoyeido incense, and the memorial incense sticks sold at these temples are also carefully produced by Shoyeido. All incense products are handmade in Kyoto workshops, adhering to ancient techniques. Furthermore, all other Shoyeido products, from incense burners to small incense holders and personal scent pouches, are made in Japan using the finest materials. Despite Shoyeido's considerable fame in Japan and abroad, they maintain only nine directly managed stores across Japan, deliberately avoiding an increase in sales points or the use of franchise systems to preserve the utmost quality in products and services. For their limited overseas locations, they rigorously vet each distributor's business philosophy and attitude, strictly limiting the number of official distributors to safeguard their centuries-old reputation. Although incense does not have an expiration date, to ensure enthusiasts in Taiwan can enjoy the freshest products, I-Si Arts and Culture places orders every two months through small batch orders, directly shipped from the Kyoto headquarters to Taipei, guaranteeing the incense's optimal quality. Through this collaborative relationship and mutual trust with the headquarters, I-Si Arts and Culture is one of the few distributors authorized to sell Shoyeido's overseas limited edition and Japan-exclusive incense lines. Consequently, I-Si Arts and Culture has introduced seven distinct product lines, featuring nearly fifty varieties of incense, alongside approximately forty different incense holders, dishes, and burners. This allows you to select from a wide range of Shoyeido incense products without needing to travel to Kyoto. Each box of incense includes a small grey incense holder. This holder is designed for convenience and is made from natural horticultural soil, compressed under high temperature. Each one can be used for approximately eighty sticks of incense.
