This is an SDGs jewelry piece featuring kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukuiku Kiln, a Kyoto Kyo ware / Kiyomizu ware potter based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Cracked or chipped ceramics that are no longer in use are repurposed and adorned with kintsugi to be reborn as accessories. The concept behind these pieces is to allow people to feel close to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and create new possibilities. We paired elegant blue and white pottery fragments with striking gold components. The sides of the pottery fragments are finished with kintsugi, so the gold accents are visible from the side, adding a touch of sophistication. These pieces are perfect as a focal point for both casual and elegant outfits. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Instead of using genuine lacquer made from the sap of the lacquer tree, this piece uses adhesive for the bonding.
