West Asian Black & White Line Beads・Burmese Daron Prayer Beads・Indian Antique Snake Chain Bracelet
An antique bracelet composed of contrasting black and white beads, Daron prayer beads from a pagoda, and old Indian metal beads.
This bracelet features 1 West Asian black and white bead,
paired with 2 types of antique metal beads,
with a wrist circumference of approximately 16cm.
The first section consists of West Asian black and white beads.
Classified within the West Asian bead category,
they are commonly found in ancient bead systems from regions like Myanmar, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Black and white beads are a type of line bead,
offering a distinct black and white contrast
that provides strong visual recognition.
From a Zoroastrian cultural perspective,
black and white are often seen as symbols of the dualistic opposition between good and evil.
The strong contrast of black and white,
also carries a clear warning in nature,
lending these line beads a special totemic significance.
The second section features a large Daron prayer bead from a collapsed pagoda in Mandalay,
1 bead in total.
This prayer bead has been drilled,
and is a Daron prayer bead in the form of a prayer bead.
The prayer bead is made of a copper alloy,
with cinnabar added during its smelting.
The surface has been polished to remove oxidation patina,
presenting a brighter, more yellow metallic luster when photographed.
However, aged copper alloy items will gradually oxidize and change color
depending on wearing habits, sweat, humidity, and the degree of polishing.
If left unpolished for extended periods,
the metal surface may slowly become dull again,
which is a natural state for old metal materials.
These large Daron prayer beads have an average maximum diameter of approximately 1.1–1.2cm.
Based on accompanying artifacts unearthed with the pagoda,
their estimated age is around the 18th–19th century.
These prayer bead-style Daron beads were typically strung in sets of 108 beads and placed within pagodas.
Due to the humid temple environment, the original cords would have decomposed and broken.
After being collected by antique dealers in Myanmar,
they were brought back and sold as individual beads.
The third section comprises Indian antique snake chain beads.
Made of copper alloy,
hand-ground and shaped,
originating from India,
these are antique-grade copper beads.
The entire piece is composed of West Asian black and white line beads,
Burmese pagoda Daron prayer beads,
and Indian antique snake chain beads.
One side offers a strong visual impact with its black and white patterns,
while the other presents the stable texture of pagoda metal prayer beads and old Indian copper beads.
The combination is understated yet layered.
A suitable collectible for enthusiasts of West Asian ancient beads, Burmese sacred pagoda artifacts, Daron prayer beads, and antique copper alloy bracelets.
