Kiriko glass made by independent Kiriko glass artist Saito Hikaru.
We learned the secret techniques of hand polishing at an Edo Kiriko workshop that was founded over 100 years ago, and even though we are aware of the low productivity and profitability, we value the tradition and want to deliver authentic Kiriko to our users, so we also value the hand polishing technique.
Product Description
Product name: Sake cup, Tama Shippo
Dimensions: Mouth diameter φ59mm x height H48mm
Capacity: 60ml
Product code: SK-G-or-019
This product, a sake cup and cloisonné (ball cloisonné), is based on traditional cloisonné patterns.
Rather than simply using the cloisonné for its placement, we hoped that when viewed from above the cloisonné would take on the shape of a flower lover, and successfully integrated the entire sake cup into a design that looks like a large flower lover in full bloom.
Shippo is an auspicious pattern that represents the appearance of circles connecting infinitely, and it conveys the meaning of harmonious relationships and the importance of harmony (circle) between people, and that hopes that connections will continue forever.
It also represents the seven treasures mentioned in Buddhism: gold, silver, crystal, lapis lazuli, agate, coral, and mantis shrimp, and is meant to convey the idea of having all kinds of treasures at hand, which means having wealth, prosperity, and becoming rich.
A round jewel, or by extension, a gem, is placed in the center of the cloisonne.
In addition to representing a sphere, "tama" also means "something very important."
These names, such as Gyokuza (throne), Gyokusho (jeweled general), and Gyokuro (gyokuro), all mean "something very important."
The balls are not polished, but are left like frosted glass (they have been treated with a matte finish).
This is because I have given the ball a meaning of my own, but I will not go into detail about what that meaning is.
The ball is the center of the Seven Treasures, or rather the circle of people, and is at the center of the seven treasures.
We hope that each customer who purchases a piece will project something onto the ball and create a new story.
