Thick Cotton Work Pinafore Dress -- A Moment in Time.

This work skirt underwent extensive pattern making and post-production. Considerations included how to achieve the desired fit at the waist. Whether to use buttons or a relaxed silhouette. Ultimately, an elastic waistband was chosen. It's used sparingly on both sides, providing enough support without feeling too constricting. A waistband was added in the middle, secured with a thin tie. It can be purely decorative, or offer a relaxed styling option. My preferred way to wear it is with wide-leg pants underneath, a sweater on top, and then simply slip on the pinafore dress to head out for the day. The skirt's pattern is rendered with a touch of acrylic paint. The cool tones create a subtle presence against the blue fabric.
