The design of the toggles was also intentional, allowing the coat to be fastened and unfastened even when wearing gloves in the bitter cold. The hood design was inspired by military headwear of the era. After the war, like the naval coat, it became a standard silhouette adopted by many brands. - Among these, 'Gloverall' stands out as a renowned brand. After World War II, the company began specializing in duffle coats by acquiring surplus military-manufactured ones. In the 1950s, Freda Morris, a distinguished British couturier, is credited with revamping military uniforms and creating the iconic duffle coat, inspiring numerous fashion brands to follow suit. The toggle and leather cord design, which appeared after 1953, became a hallmark.
