Bracelet with Vermilion Skunk Beads, Gooseberries, Vermilion White Hearts, Old Chin Silver and Orissa Brass

This bracelet is crafted by connecting vermilion skunk beads, gooseberries, vermilion white hearts, and old Chin silver & Orissa brass. The polka-dot beads are antique Venetian beads from around the 19th-20th century, known as "skunk" beads. They were made in Italy as trade goods for Africa. Imagining their journey from Italy to Africa, and now to Japan, makes their imperfections all the more endearing. The semi-transparent vermilion glass applied over a white core gives them a translucent quality and vibrant color! Despite minor scratches, these beads possess a wonderful character. (Polka-dot bead size: 1.1cm width, 1.1cm diameter) The striped beads are called "gooseberries," also antique Venetian beads from the 19th-20th century. They are named for their resemblance to gooseberries. As they are deadstock, they have few scratches and are in excellent condition, with a subtle pink hue. Their glossy finish is truly charming! The deep red beads are antique "white heart" beads, named for their white core. These are Venetian beads from around the 19th-20th century. The rich red color is achieved through the use of gold in the coloring process. These are rare vermilion white heart beads. (Vermilion white heart bead size: 3.5-4mm) Near the clasp, we've included turquoise green chevron beads. Chevron beads, meaning "mountain shape" in English (or "rosetta" in Italian), are considered the "nobility" of beads, holding significant value. These are smaller specimens of chevron beads. Turquoise green chevron beads like these are particularly rare and difficult to find! The壺-shaped components sandwiching the skunk beads and gooseberries are made of old Chin silver, dating from the 18th-19th century and originating from Burma. These were used by Chin women in necklaces and other adornments, showcasing unique wear and endearing marks. Their substantial feel and presence are incomparable to modern silver (though modern pieces can also be stylish...). These beads are truly rare and quite valuable! The golden beads, and the anchor-like charm next to the skunk beads, are old Orissa brass from the state of Orissa in India, making them old and rare. The bell-shaped component near the clasp is old silver from India, another rare find. The slightly bent clasp and the beads on the ring loop are Karen silver. The tiny Karen silver beads on the clasp are individually stamped! It's mind-boggling to think they are all handmade... ◇Karen Silver◇ This silver is crafted by a hill tribe living in the Thai-Burmese border region. Each piece is handmade, and the silver is said to have a very high purity. The bracelet is strung with waxed cord, which may feel slightly stiff initially but will become supple with wear. This bracelet allows you to enjoy antique Venetian beads!
