These earrings are crafted by connecting blue-green iridescent Roman glass, lush garnet and amethyst, kyanite, Herkimer diamond, and ethnic bells. Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 395 CE). These pieces are polished fragments of ancient vessels, now drilled with holes. Iridescence, or "ginka," occurs when glass is buried underground for extended periods. The interaction between the glass and soil components creates a chemical reaction, resulting in this sparkling sheen. Not all glass buried for long durations develops this iridescence; it appears only when specific conditions align. Both beads exhibit minor chips, a characteristic of their age. The iridescence is visible on both sides. The glass itself is a blue-green hue. The iridescent shimmer emerges depending on how light strikes it. The small, antique-toned bells are components from the Kuchi tribe of Afghanistan, originally part of decorative items, and are also vintage pieces. They do not produce sound.
