About the Artist: Artist: Master Yu Hua-Yu Born in 1980, he was captivated by the mysterious process of wheel-thrown pottery during his junior high school years, an experience that remained unforgettable. After completing his military service, he moved to Yingge alone and studied under Masters Wu Guo-Rong and Wu Jian-Cai, laying a solid foundation in wheel-throwing and kiln firing. After establishing his studio, he dedicated himself to meticulous research and development, earning accolades such as the Gold Award at the Taiwan Golden Teapot Award Ceramic Design Competition and an Excellence Award from the Tainan Craft and Cultural Promotion Association. He is currently a contemporary young Taiwanese ceramic artist. Over two decades, Master Yu has mastered the properties of various clays, integrating his creative artistry to blend tradition with modernity. He has developed the "Iridescent Shino Series," "Rock Mineral Series," and "Purple Clay Cloud Smoke Series" of ceramic works. Notably, Master Yu has also successfully recreated the celadon firing techniques of the Song Dynasty! His crackled series imitates the wood-firing techniques of the Song Dynasty, undergoing a continuous firing process for 5 days and 4 nights, maintaining temperatures above 1260 degrees Celsius. After turning to ash, the natural ash fall creates the "crackled" Song Dynasty celadon, which is truly astonishing.
