The heartwood is yellowish-brown, hence its common name "yellow meat," and it's used in construction, carving, coffins, and furniture. Offcuts can be ground into Taiwanese sandalwood powder or incense sticks – truly a treasure from root to tip. ・Taiwanese Huang Hui (Taiwan Cypress): Emits a strong, fruity fragrance with high oil content (thujaplicin) and excellent durability. Features straight, fine wood grain and a lustrous base. ・Taiwanese Cypress (Long Bo): Exudes an aroma similar to Japanese cypress, with a vibrant, pinkish hue. Narrow annual rings create intricate wood grain patterns. When the log is cut, the distinct contrast between the pink heartwood and white sapwood is striking. ・Dog bone wood (Taiwanese Poplar): A creamy yellow color with indistinct growth rings and no noticeable scent.
