Artists include Zhang Zhong from the Yuan Dynasty, Lü Ji and Bian Wenjin from the Ming Dynasty, and Lang Shining and Jiang Tingxi from the Qing Dynasty. The paintings depict various birds such as peacocks, sparrows, doves, ducks, herons, white-headed magpies, and more, reflecting the changing aesthetics of the four seasons.

⁘Ming Dynasty, Lü JiLü Ji, renowned for his flower and bird paintings, initially studied under Bian Wenjin and later emulated the works of famous Tang and Song Dynasty artists. His combination of meticulous and freehand techniques is particularly exquisite.
-Snowy Landscape and Birds
This piece depicts a desolate post-snow landscape, with sparrows and doves huddling together for warmth. The detailed depiction captures the essence of the scene with a simple yet profound style, differing from Lü Ji's usual full compositions and adding a touch of ancient charm.
-Autumn Shoals and Waterfowl
The painting features meticulous and delicate brushwork, expressing the sentiment and tranquility of an autumn night.
-Wild Flowers and Birds
The painting shows millet swaying in the wind, with daisies, grass, and wolfberry plants beside. The scene is full of autumn's vigour, with pheasants pecking at the ground and birds flying or perching in the air.

Ming Dynasty, Bian WenjinBian Wenjin, a significant court painter of flowers and birds in the early Ming Dynasty, was active during the Yongle and Xuande reigns. His style continued the Northern Song Dynasty’s meticulous and colourful tradition, blending with Southern Song court painting techniques.

⁘Qing Dynasty, Lang ShiningLang Shining, trained in Western painting and architecture, served the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong emperors. His paintings incorporated Western shading and perspective techniques, adding realistic elements to traditional Chinese art.
