The Republic of Malawi is a small, landlocked country located in southeastern Africa. It borders Tanzania to the north, Zambia to the west, and shares Africa's third-largest lake, Lake Malawi, with Mozambique, which lies to the east. This region is characterized by its vast natural landscapes. Malawi Geisha, first introduced from neighboring Ethiopia in the mid-last century, has a long history and is quite rare. Today, it is primarily cultivated in the highest quality growing regions, specifically the Misuku Mountains. The terrain consists of high plateaus ranging from 1,700 to 2,300 meters above sea level, with abundant weathered parent rock rich in acidity. The soil is predominantly deep brown-red clay and sandy loam, creating an ideal climate for Arabica coffee cultivation, with annual rainfall between 1,500 to 2,000 millimeters. Compared to Kenyan coffees, Malawian Geisha also offers a notable sweetness and aroma. The White Honey Process, in particular, enhances the rich fruity notes and the lingering sweetness in the aftertaste, adding vibrancy to the palate and creating a distinct, layered complexity. The acidity presents a softer profile, contributing to an overall clean and bright flavor. Malawi is a member of the Eastern Africa Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA). EAFCA actively promotes Malawian coffee at the annual Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) expos, gradually increasing its visibility.
