Little Bird's Song Series: Hand-painted Yellow Bird Plate

How did such a unique little bird come to be? Even I don't quite know. That's because my process is always spontaneous, without pre-sketches or preliminary drawings. I find working from a pre-drawn design rather dull and uninspiring, like following a blueprint. Most importantly, it stifles the joy that comes from spontaneous inspiration. I begin with only a vague idea in my mind – perhaps to paint a bird or a flower – then I face the blank plate and concentrate. From there, elements seem to emerge on their own. I then select those elements based on whether they feel interesting, and the piece takes shape. That's why I never know what will appear. I don't focus on the outcome. It's the dynamism, the new discoveries, the surprises, and the encounters that I enjoy about this process. This is a brief introduction for those interested in my work, offering a glimpse into how it's made. Stoneware, being an earthware, might initially appear more rustic in person compared to its image.
