● Features
This yukata (kimono) is made from Japanese denim.
It features a deep, rich indigo color with yellow stitching.
Just like regular jeans, it will develop unique fading and soften with use and washing. Unlike standard yukata, this is made from a thicker material, so it is best worn on cooler days. It's durable and not easily stained, making it recommended for active children.
[The obi is for display purposes only; this is a purchase form for the yukata only.]

● About Size Adjustments
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52710290038_a8253ee4ed_c.jpg
Children's kimonos are generally made larger.
In Japan, it is common to adjust the sleeve length (yukitake) and body length (kitake) to fit the child's arm length and height before wearing.
As shown in the photo:
- Sleeve length refers to the length of the sleeve, measured from the center of the back of the neck to the cuff.
- Body length refers to the vertical length, measured from the shoulder to the hem.
[When worn, the hem may rise slightly due to the bulk of the chest, hips, or stomach. When measuring, we recommend using a soft measuring tape that conforms to the body.]

● Is there a recommended size based on age?
Here are photos of two adorable sisters wearing yukata made from our African fabrics.

For example, the older sister on the left is 112cm tall. She is wearing our M size (Yotsumi) yukata, sized for 100cm, but it looks like a perfect fit.
The younger sister on the right is 92cm tall. She is wearing our S size (Hitotsumi) yukata, sized for 80cm, and the hem reaches her calves. For little ones who love observing flowers and animals, wearing it shorter can be quite charming.
When considering the size, it's best to focus on:
<The length from the shoulder to the hem>
For active children who run a lot, you might want it around the middle of the calf for ease of movement.
For a more mature and stylish look, consider just above the ankle.
Feel free to choose based on your preference and convenience.
● Key Points
- The basic sewing method is based on traditional Japanese tailoring (Wasaï, while sewing Western clothes is Yosai), but fine details like sizing have been adjusted to suit the body types and sensibilities of modern children.
For a visually noticeable change, while typical children's yukata often have shorter sleeves, we have intentionally made them longer.
We found that a slightly longer sleeve length is more appealing to children. Also, if you decide to remove the size adjustments (kata-age and koshi-age) later, having some sleeve length provides a better visual balance and looks cuter.
- It is made of cotton and can be washed at home.
While you can certainly take it to a professional cleaner, it is also washable at home.
- The garment has a built-in tie. Simply put on the yukata, wrap the tie around your waist from front to back, and tie it.
Then, tie your own obi over it. (The obi in the photo is for display; this is a sale of the yukata only.)
● Important Notes for Purchase
- Each item is handmade.
Hasumaya has obtained national skill certification qualifications administered by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Based on fundamental sewing techniques, we have modified the tailoring methods to align with modern lifestyles and sensibilities. Some parts are sewn robustly with a sewing machine, while others are hand-sewn for a softer, more natural finish. While perfection may not be achievable, we hope you will appreciate the warmth of handmade craftsmanship.
- Please check the item upon arrival.
Once you receive your purchased item, please inspect it within 7 days. If there are any defects or damages, we will address them after verifying the details.
- Resale is prohibited.
These items are intended for personal use only. Please refrain from purchasing for the purpose of reselling to a third party.
- The color of the product images may vary slightly from the actual item depending on your computer or smartphone environment. Please be aware of this beforehand.
- Washing and color fading.
The fabric is pre-washed before sewing to minimize noticeable color bleeding. We also use vinegar or salt for color fixing during this process, but it is not a strong chemical treatment. Therefore, there may be some color transfer during wear or washing, especially initially. Please avoid washing with other garments and recommend hand washing or using a laundry net for washing the item separately.
Thank you for reading to the end.
