Red carving is an East Asian lacquerware production technique and is the most popular type of carved lacquer. It is also known as "red carved lacquer" or "red carved lacquer". Its technique was of considerable scale in the Tang Dynasty, matured in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and developed in the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, when the national power declined, many lacquer art schools were unable to afford the cost of red painting, and they continued to shrink. The method of picking red is to first make a body out of gold, Silver, tin, wood and other materials, and apply red paint layer by layer on the fetal bones, ranging from eighty to ninety layers to one to two hundred layers. When it accumulates to a considerable thickness, the red paint is applied on the bottom. When the paint is half-dry, draw the sketch and then "pick" off part of the red paint to form a pattern. Red lacquerware does not need to be red all over. If the carved part of the pattern remains red, it can be classified as red lacquerware.
