Vegetable-tanned leather, as the name suggests, is tanned using **plant-based tannins**. It's the **oldest and most traditional method of leather tanning**. This aging process results in a beautiful patina that enhances the item's character over time, making it more lustrous with use. Our chosen leather undergoes **no surface treatment**. Just like human skin, cowhide naturally develops **unique grain patterns and minor imperfections** during its life. Surface treatments are akin to makeup, masking these natural characteristics. Therefore, **leathers with significant surface flaws typically require such treatments**.
