The Taroko National Park project dates back to the Japanese occupation. On December 27, 1937, the National Park Committee of the Governor's Office of Taiwan announced the establishment of the "Second High Taroko National Park", including the current Snow Mountain and Taroko Pavilion, covering an area of 270,000 hectares, but was abolished due to the end of the Japanese occupation period. By 1979, the Executive Yuan approved the "Taiwan Comprehensive Development Plan", which designated Taroko District, Dahengling, Hehuanshan and Suhua Highway as national parks and national road parks, and was finally defined in 1984. National park range. On November 12, 1986, the Taroko National Park project was officially announced. The national park covers administrative areas including Xiulin Township in Hualien County, Heping District in Taichung City, and Renai Township in Nantou County.
