The story of the Journey to the West has been performed on stage for a long time, in plays such as "Havoc in Heaven" and "Journey to the West." Sun Wukong's facial makeup is embellished with colors like red, black, gray, white, and gold into symbolic patterns, belonging to the category of expressive facial makeup. However, before "Havoc in Heaven," gold was not used. After he consumed Laozi's golden elixirs during his rampage and was thrown into the Eight Trigrams Brazier, he gained his Fiery Golden Eyes. Thus, gold was subsequently added to his facial makeup.
