Most are male roles, but there are also female clowns – the "Chou Po Zi" (丑婆子), also called "Cai Dan" (彩旦). Wen Chou (the figure depicted here is Wen Chou) refers to comedic characters who do not possess or showcase martial arts skills. Wu Chou, on the other hand, are comedic characters with strong martial arts abilities, agile and quick-witted, also known as "Kai Kou Tiao" (開口跳).
