Due to the natural tannins in the leather, it deepens in color over time through exposure to air or sunlight. Combined with the natural oils from your hands and daily wear, the leather develops a lustrous patina. As such, farmers do not prioritize protecting the animals' skin. Consequently, cattle may bear marks from insect bites, scratches, thorns, or branding if they are free-range. Growth lines and wrinkles are also natural occurrences. In cases of difficult births, a mother cow might have surgical scars. During the process of harvesting meat, skinning can also result in knife marks. These natural markings are faithfully preserved in the finished leather, serving as a testament to the animal's life. The resulting text will appear as a burnt, dark mark. Therefore, this service is not suitable for dark leather colors such as black or dark blue. ▴ Some items require laser engraving before production. For ready-made items, this service cannot be applied and requires separate scheduling. Please contact customer service for production timelines. 🌞 Care and Maintenance -------------------- Frequent use is the best form of maintenance. Avoid storing leather in humid environments. If the leather becomes wet, wipe it immediately with a dry cloth and allow it to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as this can cause the leather to harden and degrade. Once dry, apply leather conditioner to replenish oils and consider using a waterproof spray for protection against accidental spills. For storage or long periods of non-use, place the item in a dehumidifying cabinet set to 50%-60% humidity to prevent mold, or use a sealed bag with a desiccant. Cowhide is not heavily processed or coated, so variations in color, texture, and minor scratches are natural. We cannot accommodate requests for "flawless" leather surfaces. Furthermore, once an item has been personalized with engraving or laser carving, returns are not accepted unless there was a production error.
