Soda fired tea bowl.

This tea bowl was made from local Taiwanese clay and then soda fired in the mountains of Yamingshan, Taiwan. I made this bowl in my small workshop in northern Taipei. I wanted to make this tea bowl loosely. By this I mean I wanted to add character in the form of uneven lines and a wavy rim. I dipped the tea bowl while still drying into a white clay porcelain slip. This made the rim a different color. I think the rim and foot ring become very important for a tea bowl. I try and pay more attention to these areas when I make them. I hand carved the foot ring, again giving the bowl a hand made feel. My seal is stamped inside the foot ring. The whisk comes with the tea bowl.
