The moon shines the brightest on Mid-Autumn night. On this night, the full moon sits by the western pavilion, and its symbol of fullness makes us remember our loved ones, be it near or far, ever so fondly. The people of Hong Kong, no matter how busy their lives are, will always slow down their footsteps on Mid-Autumn night, and gather together as a family to celebrate the festival. Wilson’s painting vividly captures a modern day’s version of reunion on Mid-Autumn’s night. A family drives their car to a quiet and deserted countryside to set up a tent, hang up the lights, light up traditional lanterns and sit around a campfire to enjoy the full moon shining across the dark skies on a balmy night.
